Arlington Chess Club

We built the website for the Arlington Chess Club. The club provides a place for youth and adults to play and learn about chess. They meet every Thursday and host more than 25 tournaments each year. The club also sponsors regular chess for kids at the Arlington Public Library. The site features online registration for chess tournaments, an administrative management area, updateable chess ratings for registered players sourced from the database of the US Chess Federation. We also designed the club’s logo.

Aerofirma is a Texas corporation formed in 2001 as a family-owned real estate development company. Initially specializing in the development and construction of medical office buildings, their experience and expertise has evolved into developing and constructing commercial office buildings, commercial retail strip centers, municipal airport hangars and runways, self-storage facilities and multi-family residential properties. Our main focus is in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We have built sites for some of their properties and the current corporate site and logo.

Lori Ann Art is the website for Arlington freelance artist Lori Fitzgerald. Lori works in all fine-art mediums with a special niche of painting musicians (particularly players of the blues), tracking the artists down, and getting and autograph. Commissioned portraits, Italian Street Art, Murals, commercial work, rock painting, and more are displayed on the portfolios on her site. The site is WordPress with a Shopify store. The Institute promotes the seamless integration and effective exchange of elite international music and provides young musicians an opportunity to reach their goals. Sheng Shi Hua Lok Art Institute plans and hosts concerts, music festivals, master classes, summer camps, arts study, and art training camps, etc. It is the European String Teachers Association’s partner in China and operates the Sheng Shi Hua Le Instrument Fair and the Sheng Shi Hua Le art salon. The site is a one-page WordPress site.

We recently launched http://hwy157selfstorage.com/. Highway 157 Self Storage is a Euless, Texas Self Storage Facility that is proud to assist with their customers’ packing, moving and storage needs. With the newest, most up-to-date facility in the mid-cities area, a variety of units in various sizes, climate controlled units and fully enclosed RV & Boat units, they have a unit to fit your needs and budget.

The site is WordPress with a couple of additional tweeks. We also designed the logo for the company.

The new TexasCourthouses.com launched today. This WordPress site features photography of courthouses from all Texas counties with historic jails, theaters, and bridges. Photos are available for sale. A portfolio with histories of all Texas county courthouses is included.

Texas Chess Association Site Launched

Just launched a new website for the Texas Chess Association. Since 1935, the Texas Chess Association has sponsored statewide championship tournaments and regional events each year. The site is WordPress with some additional functionality, including membership registrations and an online javascript viewer of recent chess games that have appeared in the organization’s publication. Starting Session on Only One WordPress Page

I needed to start a session on a single WordPress page. The only good way to call a session is in the functions.php theme file like this:

function start_mywpsession() { if (!session_id()) session_start(); } add_action("init", "start_mywpsession", 1);

But this starts session on every page and I want to avoid that. Searching for solutions to this I can only find workable solutions in plugins.

Page slug and id are not available in the theme’s functions.php, so I did this:

function start_mywpsession() { if (intval(strpos($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],"slug-i-want")) > 0) { if (!session_id()) session_start(); } } add_action("init", "start_mywpsession", 1);

We have worked with Arlington’s Plan Factory for over 10 years. The Plan Factory offers stock home plans for sale as is, or one can have their professional staff customize the plans also design custom homes for individuals our home builders. We recently launched a new site.

A client portal for communicating with the design staff, dynamic listings of stock home plans and featured home plans, and a searchable directory of thousands of home architectural plans are included in this site.
